The Yoga Experience Teachers: Laurel Morales

Laurel Morales is a prenatal yoga teacher, public radio reporter and mom to Scarlett and Lucy. She realized the power of prenatal yoga when she was pregnant with her first daughter. She approached childbirth with the same thorough research she applies to a journalism assignment. After reading several books, taking different types of classes and interviewing other mothers she found yoga to be the best preparation.

Yoga can help pregnant women prepare physically for labor and childbirth. It can also help balance emotions, lift spirits and discover the goddess within.

Laurel sees the journey of pregnancy, labor, and childbirth as a rite of passage that gives women the courage and patience to embrace the challenges of motherhood.

Prenatal yoga classes have the added bonus of facilitating a community of new moms.

Laurel has completed Anusara teacher training with Jordan and Martin Kirk in Phoenix, as well as a 200-hour YOGAMAZÉ training with Erin Widman, and a prenatal yoga teacher training with Anne Phyfe Palmer in Seattle. Her teaching style has been influenced by her own prenatal yoga teacher, Mary Denmead. Other influences in Laurel’s approach to prenatal yoga include Pam England, Ina May Gaskin, and the many moms that roll out their mats each week at TYE.
