Sunday, October 8th Exploration Event: Daily Habits of a Yogi w/ Rachel Peters

Join Rachel in this 1-hour FREE Exploration Event as she dives into some simple (yet profound) approaches to aligning our daily lives with nature’s rhythms. This is the basic foundation of Ayurvedic teachings and philosophy. When we are in alignment with nature, both on and off the mat we experience greater ease, freedom, and joy.

About Rachel: Rachel is a collaborator, teacher, mother and lover of wild places. After years of working full time at Prescott College, teaching yoga and owning a yoga studio, Rachel began studying Ayurveda. Soon after, her own life began to shift from applying the basic daily practices and she knew she needed to make some serious changes to stay in alignment. She has since dedicated her teaching to the importance of influencing both our time on our mat with the other 22.5 hours in the day.

Sunday, September 24th: Exploration Event: Intro to Acro Yoga

In this exploration event we will discover the basics of Acro Yoga, also known as partner yoga. You may attend solo or with a friend. We only ask that you bring your curious spirit and you’ll be guaranteed to discover more joy in your body.

About Nikki: Along with being one of TYE’s yoga teachers, Nikki has a background in Acro yoga. She spent time traveling Thailand with a circus, where she performed in Burmese refugee camps, hospitals, and orphanages.

About Sarah: Along with being one of TYE’s yoga teachers, Sarah loves exploring new ways to move her body. She has also spent time exploring Acro yoga with friends and teachers back on the east coast.

Time: 4:00-5:30PM

Cost: This class will allow you to use your regular class package, drop-in, or membership for a workshop style learning opportunity.

A Weekend Exploration of How We are Showing Up

Dates: October 28th-29th

Are you interested in exploring how social justice and racial justice can be a bigger part of your life? How can this work be woven into our spiritual/healing spaces? Are you curious to learn more about your role as a teacher, therapist, practitioner, or activist? How can our yoga practice help us to “wake up”? How can practice sustain us on the path of racial/social justice work?

During this workshop we will:
– Engage in experiential exercises around multi-cultural connection in dyads, small group, and large group formats.
– Practice simple, accessible yoga (breath-work, therapeutic asana, and mindful meditation) as support for our facilitated discussion and exercises.
– Create an environment where we can be courageous as we explore complex concepts such as racism, cultural appropriation, white privilege, and spiritual bypassing.
– Practice applying communication skills that help us to stay in the room and connect in the midst of difficult conversations.
– Explore how yoga practice can empower us to show up with integrity and grace in difficult life experiences.

This workshop is for healers, therapists, yoga practitioners, teachers, and activists. Beginners to social justice work are encouraged to enroll.

About Jennie Pearl:
Jennie Pearl is a white female yoga teacher, massage therapist, community organizer, and facilitator who believes that spiritual practice and social justice can essentially be one and the same. Having previously lived in Flagstaff for over a decade, she is looking forward to returning to the sweet mountain town for this RACE, YOGA, HEALERS, AND SOCIAL JUSTICE: A Weekend Exploration of How We are Showing Up. This workshop is a response to the huge amount of interest Jennie witnessed in Flagstaff when she facilitated the Community Conversation event back in August. She hopes to encourage positive growth and equity in the hearts of the community she loves so dearly. Jennie currently lives in Oakland, CA where she facilitates a community group called WAKE UP. Over the last year and a half in this group, they have been particularly interested in the ways that yoga and meditation can help them wake up, unlearn their racism, and unpack their privilege, without bypassing or diminishing racial justice work. Jennie is actively learning from change-makers, leaders, mentors, and innovative thinkers in the Bay Area. She is in the midst of a 2 year-long Mindfulness Certification Program for Diversity Facilitation with Lee Mun Wah and Rainbow Markell and is grateful for all she continues to learn from her mentors and teachers.

TYE’s 200 hour Teacher Training!

Deepen your Path of Yoga through the Art of Teaching
200 hour Yoga Teacher Training

Designed for students who want to immerse themselves in the practice and study of yoga and pursue their capacity to teach yoga.  Minimum of 1 year of yoga practice recommended.  Students of every level of asana ability are welcome. All hours are recognized by Yoga Alliance.

Structure:
The program will meet once a month for 8 months; 20-28 hours of training per weekend; Friday evenings through Sunday, plus three holidays. Expect a minimum of 8 hours of homework each month.

Cost Options:
Full One time Payment:
$2650

  • $800 of which is a non-refundable deposit
  • No refunds after September 1st.
  • $50 Discount for cash/check payment.
  • Option for Unlimited Yoga at TYE from date of registration through April 15, 2018.   For only $189.

Payment plan:

  • $800 Non refundable deposit;
  • 8 auto payments of $250 each, taken on the first of each month September-April, regardless of completion of the program.
  • Once deposit is made; option for Unlimited Yoga at TYE until April 15, 2018 for only $189.

General Curriculum:

Each weekend will include:
• Asana practice and theory, including in depth research   and study
• Anatomy of yoga poses, body regions, subtle body awareness
• Meditation, Mantra and Pranayama technique
• Teaching theory
• Teaching techniques/skills/practicums
• Focus on a particular myth/epic/scriptures and their teachings in relation to life.
• Philosophical Topics of Yoga
• History of Yoga traditions; focusing on the Tantric lineage

As a whole in this course:
• You will build a knowledge base of alignment, purpose, affect and function of a level one syllabus of asanas and how to apply this knowledge to more advanced postures.
• You will build this knowledge base for reference in instruction.
• You will understand functional anatomy and physiology; including but not limited to breathing, the nervous system, muscular and skeletal systems and how these relate to the asana practice.
• You will study the history of the yoga traditions, its major philosophical schools and movements, with a special focus on Tantric traditions.
• You will study the myths/epics/scriptures that inform and express yogic philosophy and how they relate to current day living.
• You will learn the art of teaching as we study and analyze various teaching techniques.
• You will gain an understanding of the meaning behind various asana systems to help you develop your own authentic teaching style.
• You will practice teaching and giving presentations in a safe and supportive environment.
• You will advance your personal practice.
• At the end of this training, you will understand the methodology and reasoning behind practicing and teaching yoga, and receive a certificate, which qualifies you to register with Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour RYT level.
