Class Descriptions ...

All our classes offer introduction to yoga philosophy and incorporate the use of Ujjayi breath with heartfelt spirituality.

Private instruction is also available.

Vinyasa Flow: Flowing sequence for all levels with minimal pause for demonstration.

Restorative Yoga: All-level class utilizing props and serene music to support an opening in your body, heart, and mind. Students will leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and energized.

Prenatal Yoga: For pregnant women with or without any yoga experience.

Inversions & Pranayama: Focus on inversions (handstand, forearm stand, shoulder stand, and headstand) and pranayama (working with the breath). Learn the alignment and foundations of the inversions, support the capacity to increase holds, and advance into variations. All levels — but not recommended for those brand new to yoga.

Advance Your Practice: Experience the challenge of radical expansion during this intermediate / advanced, teacher-led practice. We all advance in different ways; each teacher will offer their own unique concept of how to progress on a path of yoga that extends through and beyond an asana practice. Students will be expected to attend to their bodies while being encouraged to expand their possibilities. Students should be able to kick up into handstand at the wall unassisted, do headstand in the middle of the room, and do a full backbend (urdva danurasana) with straight arms. TYE staff will rotate teaching this class.

Yoga Basics: Highly recommended for students new to yoga. This class emphasizes basic postures that build core strength and flexibility.

All Levels: Designed to support and encourage all levels of practitioners. Beginners will receive instruction and help appropriate to their level, while experienced students will be offered more challenging variations of poses. Key to attending this class is a capability to pace oneself while finding the options presented in class inspiring. The class offerings will cater the level of students present. The 2-hour class is not recommended for students who have never done yoga, as it tends to be the most challenging all-level class, due in part to its length.

Saturday Morning All Levels Purna Practice: Purna ... Sanskrit for full or complete. This practice allows extra time to deepen your experience. The class will be taught with the intention of giving something to every student that will help them advance their practice, regardless of level.

Intermediate: For continuing students who have a good understanding of the basics. This class incorporates more complex and difficult postures as well as creatively linked sequences; classes can be demanding. We prefer that you have attended either Yoga Basics or All Levels for a minimum of 6 months.

Intermediate / Advanced: For students with a good knowledge of the Anusara Yoga® Universal Principles of Alignment. This class will explore advanced variations of the whole spectrum of asanas. We prefer that you can do headstand free-standing, urdhva dhanurasana with straight arms, and kick up into handstand at the wall without assistance. This class is not appropriate for beginners. We do not encourage attending and modifying a lot. If you are unsure whether this class is right for you, ask the instructors before attending.
