Descriptions of Classes at The Yoga Experience

Flow-based Classes

Rejuvenating Flow: Create balance, vitality, and radiance through asana (posture), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation in a steady moving class that incorporates yoga therapy, alignment, accessible sequencing, and an overall balanced approach to the practice.

Focus Flow: Prepare to focus your flow with this challenging and progressive class. Each class will target a particular asana or sequence of asanas, bringing the flow of your breath and mind into focus for a particular purpose. Also offered as a Led Focus Flow; where the instructor practices with the students.

Prana Flow: Strengthen, stretch, and tone your physical body, while also working with your breath and energetic body. This enlivening, creative, and inspiring class is based on the yoga teachings of Shiva Rea, Angela Farmer, and Victor van Kooten. You will leave feeling lighter, brighter, and radiantly embodied.

Ashtanga Primary Series: Heal and purify the body with this set sequence that follows the traditional Sanskrit count through Ashtanga's Primary Series of fundamental asanas. Completion of the entire series will vary depending on the ability level of the class.

Ashtanga Mix: Prepare to explore the basic Ashtanga Primary Series while discovering additional poses and variations along the way.

Alignment & Learning-based Classes

Essential Hot: Experience a hotter practice while calming the nervous system, reducing stress, and cultivating awareness of breath in a heated room. You’ll be sure to find gentle postures to open hips, increase range of motion, and balance strength and flexibility.

Align and Flow: Deepen your yoga postures and shift your attention from your mind to your breath and body by focusing on the subtleties of alignment. Class is level specific, but all classes will cover fundamentals with modifications and expansions depending on students. Prepare for both longer holds and the dynamic delight of flow yoga.

Yoga Basics: Prepare to learn fundamental postural alignment while building core strength, flexibility, and body awareness. This class is not only for students who are new to yoga, but also for dedicated yogis with limitations in their physical capacity due to age, injury, or manageable medical conditions.

Yoga Lab: Prepare to delve deeply and explore. Through intelligent sequencing and clear instruction, we will dissect postures, alignment, philosophy, and any element of practice you are willing to uncover. This class will focus on detail in order to progress postures. Class is level specific.

Restorative Yoga: Allow yourself to rest and heal. This class is intended to relieve the effects of chronic stress, support a healthy immune system, and slow down the body and mind for better sleep. This class often includes a lengthy guided meditation called Yoga Nidra.
